Welcome to the FootballMap.io blog

We just launched this blog. It sits alongside footballmap.io – the interactive map of football clubs, stadiums, and competitions we’ve been building – as the place for the stuff that doesn’t fit on a map: club history, data deep-dives, and notes on what’s changing in the app itself.

What to expect

A few kinds of posts, roughly:

  • Data notes – where a dataset came from, what we had to clean up, what surprised us.
  • Club spotlights – history and context for clubs on the map that deserve more than a pin.
  • Product updates – new features on the map, in plain language.

Why a separate blog

The map itself is built to be fast and focused – one job, done well. Long-form writing wants a different shape: real paragraphs, headings, things worth linking to and citing. Rather than bolt that onto the map’s own interface, it gets its own place.

More soon.
